Gaming News: Singapore's Team Finally Gets Singapore's Chair.
Secretlab has become the premier gaming chair in esports around the world, reaching an estimated valuation of $1.5b in 2021 - a massive achievement for a homegrown brand from Singapore. And they had done some awesome collabs with esports organizations around the world, such as Team Liquid, as well as international brands like DC Comics.
Meanwhile, another homegrown organization had been making waves in esports. Paper Rex shot out of a cannon, exploding on the Valorant scene with impressive runs in multiple international events - including a 2nd place finish at Masters Copenhagen in 2022. Recently, they also had an impressive run at Masters Tokyo, making it to 3rd place despite having a substitute in their roster.
In what is a natural, and long-awaited collaboration, these two homegrown brands have finally joined forces to create, in my humble opinion, the hottest Secretlab chair yet. One does understand why Secretlab had to look overseas to grow their business and it must be special for them to be able to come back home with a collaboration like this.
The chair is beautifully designed, with the iconic Paper Rex logo on the back, with fuschia accents for the details. In an interview with One Esports, Paper Rex stated that the 3 icons on the back of the chair had special meaning. The first being a nod to home, with the globe turned to face Asia. The second, the PRX logomark and the third a celebration of their international achievements.
Fans will appreciate the details such as the #wgaming - a reference to the aggressive and chaotic playstyle made famous by Paper Rex.
The details down the side of the chair are a nod to Paper Rex' jerseys that they have worn to events over the last two years. A memorable design that has been incredibly popular with fans.
At Masters Tokyo in June 2023, you would find it hard to look any direction without spotting at least one Paper Rex jersey in the crowd!
One unfortunate piece of news is that this chair is currently an exclusive for the team - fans will not be able to get their hands on them. However, one would presume this will change in the near future with the popularity of Paper Rex not just in Singapore, but around the world.
