Creative Spotlight: BK Sponsors Stevenage

Creative Spotlight: BK Sponsors Stevenage
Lionel Messi wears the Burger King logo for a fraction of the cost - how did they do it?

In 2018, Burger King surprisingly sponsored Stevenage Football Club - who were pretty much one of the lowest-ranked teams to make the cut in to the FIFA video game, produced by EASPORTS. In FIFA 20, the Burger King logo would be on the Stevenage jersey in the game.

This is where things get interesting. In the FIFA game, players can transfer players between teams. Meaning if a player transferred a star player such as Messi, Ronaldo or Beckham onto Stevenage, they would be wearing the Burger King logo in FIFA 20.

An absolutely genius move by DAVID Miami and Madrid, as well as BK who is always one of the most innovative marketers when it comes to gaming and social media.

How did they make it really pop off? Check out the fantastic case study video below:

Stevenage Challenge by DAVID The Agency for Burger King

This is one of my favourite case studies, not only in gaming, but in all of advertising.

Not only a brilliant piece of award-winning work, but one that generated insane value for the client through creativity.
